At approximately 11:30 on the 23 August 2024 a call for backup in the Saxonwold/Rosebank area was received for a Colleague from Vision Tactical who was in an active shootout with Suspects driving a Silver Audi, The vehicle was being tested via LPR and had come back as “Positively Wanted” when approached the occupants of the Silver Audi opened fire with an AK47 hitting the Vision Tactical Response Vehicle and Narrowly missing the members driving proceeded by an exchange of gunfire. The Audi fled down Jan Smuts Avenue and was lost in the Randburg CBD. Members of SAPS, JMPD and the GTP Choppper along with Vision Tactical and SCP Security scoured the area for the vehicle while monitoring for camera hits.
At Approximately 12:00 SCP Security recovered the vehicle in a parking lot alongside the Randburg taxi rank opposite the mall. All suspects had fled the scene.
