INSIDE LOOK: GATE MOTOR THIEVES ARRESTED AFTER BEING CAUGHT STEALING A GATE MOTOR.
At around 03:30am this morning, an SCP Security reaction officer was patrolling the streets when he noticed two suspicious men standing in front of a house in Gibbins Place, Montgomery Park.
When our officer approached them, the suspects started running towards their vehicle and a short car chase ensued.
While giving chase the suspects opened fire on our security officer.
With the support of backup vehicles and another security company, the suspects were cornered and quickly apprehended on John Adamson Drive where SAPS Sophiatown were contacted and the suspects were handed over to them for detention and charges.
Upon further investigation we believe the suspects threw the firearm out the window during the chase and SCP Security is actively searching for the firearm on the pavements and neighboring properties.
The following items were found in the suspects possession:
1x 9mm magazine fully loaded
1 x Stripped gate motor
1 x Pliers
1 x Police cap
1 x Voltage tester
Fake money (US Dollars)
This was a joint arrest made alongside another security company, SCP Security provided the arresting statement at Sophiatown SAPS for further action.
We are very pleased with this arrest as we have now subsequently linked the same suspects to a further 5 gate motor thefts around the area over the past 2 months.
