Robbery Suspect Apprehended in Emmerentia
At approximately 07:20, an SCP Security Reaction Officer reported an armed robbery on Komatie rd, Emmarentia, Johannesburg and requested backup. The victim, who had been held at gunpoint and robbed of his cellphone, approached our officer at the Wimpy Eatery on Barry Hertzog Avenue, Emmarentia, seeking immediate assistance.
The Reaction Officer promptly notified the control room, and multiple units were dispatched to locate and apprehend the suspect.
At 07:26, officers identified the suspect based on the victim’s description and initiated a pursuit. The suspect was successfully cornered and apprehended without further incident.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the firearm used in the robbery was a replica. The suspect was taken into custody, and the stolen cellphone, along with the replica firearm, was recovered and handed over to Parkview SAPS.
No injuries were reported during the incident. The case will be forwarded for further investigation and potential prosecution.
